About Us

Who are we?

The Australian Hazara Advocacy Network (AHAN) is made up of members of the Australian-Hazara community  who have arrived in Australia as refugees, as children of refugees, and migrants.

We are advocates, lawyers, health workers, community workers, tradespeople, educators, mothers, fathers, brothers, and sisters.

We’ve found a safe home and have been able to rebuild our lives in Australia.

As people who have experienced persecution, societal marginalisation, and systemic violence and discrimination, we aim to work towards a world where the human right of Hazara people are recognised, respected and protected.

What we do

We exist to advocate, to educate, and to engage with governments, political leaders, communities, civil society, and the general public to keep a focus on the plight of Hazara people and to work toward a world where the rights and interests of of Hazara people are recognised, respected and protected.
